Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 20, 2026

At SightTune LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), we believe your music should come first — and your privacy should never be compromised. This Privacy Policy explains what data our app accesses, how it is used, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data.. The short version: Everything happens locally on your device. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any of your data.
1. Data We Access and How We Use It
SightTune accesses the following categories of data, each for a specific and limited purpose:

a) Face and Gaze Data (via TrueDepth Camera and ARKit)
SightTune uses Apple's TrueDepth camera system via ARKit Face Tracking and on-device face detection to enable the app's core feature: hands-free page turning through real-time eye gaze and head movement detection.
Data accessed:
-
Face position and size within the camera frame
-
Head orientation (pitch, yaw, and roll)
-
Facial landmark positions (e.g., nose position)
-
Estimated distance between the user's face and the device
-
Eye gaze direction (calculated entirely on-device)

How this data is used:
-
Eye gaze direction is used to detect when the user is looking at the left or right edge of the screen, triggering a page turn
-
Head orientation is used as a safety mechanism to prevent accidental page turns; the user must deliberately turn their head before a page turn can be triggered
-
Face distance is used during calibration to verify the user is seated at an appropriate distance from the device
-
During calibration, the user looks at on-screen targets so the app can learn how to map their gaze to screen positions; only numerical calibration settings are saved, not images or face data
How this data is stored:
-
All face and gaze data is processed in real time, entirely on the user's device
-
Face and gaze data exists only in volatile memory (RAM) during an active reading or calibration session
-
Face and gaze data is never written to disk, never saved to any file or database, and never cached
-
Face and gaze data is discarded immediately and automatically when the user exits the reading view, closes the calibration screen, or closes the app
-
The only persistent output of the gaze tracking system is a small set of numerical calibration settings stored locally on the device; these settings contain no face imagery, biometric templates, or personally identifiable information
Sharing:
-
Face and gaze data is never transmitted off the device
-
Face and gaze data is never sent to any server operated by us or any third party
-
Face and gaze data is never shared with any third party for any purpose
-
Face and gaze data is never used for advertising, marketing, user profiling, or data mining
In accordance with Apple's App Review Guideline 5.1.2(vi), data gathered from ARKit and facial mapping tools is not used for marketing, advertising, or use-based data mining, including by third parties.
b) Authentication Data (via Sign in with Apple)
SightTune uses Sign in with Apple for user authentication.
Data accessed:
-
A unique user identifier provided by Apple upon sign-in
How this data is used:
-
Solely to maintain the user's signed-in state within the app
How this data is stored:
-
The user identifier is stored locally on the device
-
It is not transmitted to any external server
Sharing:
-
The user identifier is not shared with any third party
c) Music Library Data (via iCloud / CloudKit)
SightTune syncs the user's imported music scores (PDF and text files) and practice session data across the user's own devices using Apple's CloudKit framework.
Data synced:
-
Imported PDF and text files
-
Practice session metadata (time spent per page and gaze position summaries)
How this data is stored:
-
Data is stored in the user's personal iCloud container, which is governed by Apple's iCloud Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
-
We do not operate servers that store or have access to this data
-
The user controls this data through their Apple ID and iCloud settings
Sharing:
-
This data is not shared with any third party
-
We do not have the ability to access, read, or extract data from individual users' iCloud containers
d) Calibration Settings and Preferences
Data stored:
-
Numerical gaze calibration settings
-
Page turn speed and head turn sensitivity preferences
How this data is stored:
-
Locally on the device
-
This data contains no images, no face data, and no personally identifiable information
Sharing:
-
This data is not transmitted or shared with any third party
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
-
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or physical addresses
-
We do not record, save, or transmit any camera images or video
-
We do not store face images, face maps, face templates, or any biometric data
-
We do not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or advertising networks
-
We do not track users across apps or websites
-
We do not build user profiles
-
We do not collect device identifiers for tracking purposes
3. Third-Party Frameworks
SightTune integrates the following frameworks, all of which operate entirely on-device:
-
Apple ARKit: Provides TrueDepth face tracking
-
Apple CoreML and Vision: Runs on-device machine learning models
-
Google ML Kit Face Detection: Performs on-device face detection and provides facial landmarks
All processing by these frameworks occurs locally on the user's device. No face data, camera data, or personal data is transmitted to Google or any other third party through these integrations.
No other third-party services, analytics tools, or advertising frameworks are integrated into the app.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
-
Face and gaze data: Not retained. Exists only in RAM during active use and is discarded automatically when the session ends.
-
Authentication data: Stored locally until the user signs out or deletes the app.
-
iCloud data: Retained in the user's personal iCloud account until the user deletes it. Users can manage this in Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
-
Calibration settings: Stored locally until the user resets calibration or deletes the app.
-
All local data is completely removed when the app is uninstalled.
5. Children's Privacy
SightTune is intended for musicians of all ages, including students. Because face data is processed entirely on-device and never collected, stored, or transmitted, and because no personal information is sent to external servers, the app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations by design. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in applicable jurisdictions).
6. Your Rights
-
You can revoke camera access at any time in Settings > SightTune. The app will continue to work with manual page turning.
-
You can sign out within the app.
-
You can delete your iCloud data through your device's iCloud settings.
-
You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app.
-
Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no data for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we update this policy, we will post the revised version at this URL with a new effective date. Any material changes will be communicated within the app.
